Hello Fellow Lincoln Enthusiasts:
As a long-term LMCF member, former editor of the Road Race Lincoln Register publication and archivist of the RRLR it seemed to me a little extra effort for this summer’s homecoming might pay off. Maybe I had a premonition. I suggested to Jack Eby and David Schultz that a significant car to have at the 2016 homecoming would be the Carrera Panamericana car (1954 Lincoln) that’s displayed at the National Automobile Museum/Harrah Auto Collection in Reno, Nevada.
Well, LMCF President David Schultz worked his magic with Jackie Frady, executive director of the NAM/HAC, and the car is scheduled to appear at Hickory Corners July 15 through September 15.
Since I put myself on the line and committed to defray the cost of transportation to and from Hickory Corners and Reno, by soliciting contributions, here is my pitch.
Please send your contributions (which will be publicly acknowledged at the Homecoming and in print) to Bruce Kopf, 825 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236-1453. Make checks payable to the “Lincoln Motor Car Foundation.” We need a total of $3,400.And let me know, please, when you send your contribution so I can maintain the roster of donors for the meet. Any money raised in excess of what’s needed will go to the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation. Contributions are thought to be tax deductible.
This is a most significant achievement and one which will be long remembered – to have this racing icon in our midst as we again celebrate the history and tradition of the Lincoln motorcar at our annual gathering.
