The David Schultz Memorial Homecoming

The David Schultz Memorial Homecoming

In memory of our former Chairman and CEO, museum founder, and lifelong friend

Join us for the David W. Schultz Memorial Homecoming, formerly known as the Lincoln Homecoming, taking place from Wednesday, August 6, through Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. This special gathering honors the legacy of David W. Schultz, former Chairman and CEO, museum founder, and lifelong friend to the Lincoln community. Hosted by the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation, this year’s event promises a meaningful and engaging celebration filled with activities for enthusiasts and guests alike.

Paul Temple, Chairman of the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation, and the 2025 Homecoming Committee have thoughtfully organized a week of memorable events. A new highlight this year is the host hotel: the Delta Hotel by Marriott Kalamazoo Conference Center.  There is ample trailer parking and complimentary hose and water set up for car washing.

Event Schedule Highlights:

Wednesday, August 6

The celebration begins with a Cruise-In at the Gilmore Museum from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This free event is open to the public—bring your show car and enjoy an evening of camaraderie and classic vehicles.

Thursday, August 7

Take a Motor Coach excursion to the Studebaker Museum in South Bend, Indiana. The trip departs at 8:30 AM from the Delta Hotel and includes a guided tour and buffet lunch, returning to Kalamazoo by 4:00 PM.  We have a few spots left on this tour.  Please let us know immediately if you wish to join this tour by writing to us on our contact page.   Diner is on your own this evening.

Friday, August 8

A driving tour to Turkeyville USA. Marshall, MI, departs from the Gilmore Campus at 10:00 AM.   Marshall is about a 40-minute drive through the country. Once there, participants can explore the shops and have lunch at the Cornwell’s Dinner Theater.  Choose between the noon lunch show or a 2:00 PM matinee. The featured musical, "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," is a rocking tribute to the 1980s. Tickets are available at Turkeyville’s website: https://www.turkeyville.com/dinner-theatre/2025-season/.

That evening, a catered dinner will be held at the “Summer House” the new Gilmore Event Center, with a cash bar opening at 6:00 PM and dinner served at 7:00 PM. The traditional Lincoln auction will follow—please bring Lincoln parts or memorabilia to contribute!  All proceeds from the auction benefit the Lincoln Museum and help us reach our goal of making it self-sustaining.

Saturday, August 9

The main event of the weekendthe Lincoln Car Show—welcomes all Lincoln vehicles, along with Edsels, Mercurys, Monarchs, and Thunderbirds. Club membership is not required to participate. Lincoln Motor Company will also be on site, showcasing its newest models.

Vehicle judging will follow a People’s Choice format with awards in the following categories:
- Best Pre-1980 Car
- Best Post-1980 Car
- The Lincoln Star (Best in Show)

New this year, we are proud to introduce the David Schultz Long Haul Award in honor of David’s enduring belief that “classic cars, especially Lincolns, were meant to be driven.” This award will be presented to the Lincoln that is 25 years or older and has traveled the greatest effective distance to Homecoming.  A special formula combining both the age of the car and the miles driven will be used to determine the winner.

Saturday evening’s dinner will again be held at the Gilmore Event Center, with a cocktail hour starting at 6:00 PM and dinner at 7:00 PM.   Our special guest speaker for the evening is Mr. Joaquin Nuño-Whelan, the new President of Lincoln.  Come hear his inspiring vision for the future of the Lincoln brand.

Cars wishing to show just for the day and not attend the entire homecoming may enter through the gate near the Ford Model A museum (known as the Model A gate).  $35.00 includes entrance and show registration for the car, driver and one passenger.  Additional passengers may enter at $10.00.

Sunday, August 10

The show continues Sunday. Stroll the grounds of the Gilmore and take in the many other exhibits.  Watch the Model T’s tool around the campus with their new drivers.  (The Gilmore offers the Model T driving experience for any interested, space is limited) The Lincoln Motor Car Foundation’s annual business meeting will take place at 10:00 AM, followed by the board of trustees meeting at 11:00 AM. All enthusiasts are welcome.

Attending one or both of these meetings gives you the chance to see up close the innerworkings of the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation.  There are many ways to be involved in the work of the Foundation without having to be a board member.   We are always eager to welcome new ideas and perspectives.  Come learn about all that we are doing!
